AIKARA
Choreographed by: Antriksh Verma (Ant)
Performed by: Alerie Huang Lei, Amira, Angie Goh, Ashleigh Phua, Deon Chan, Elliot, Gynette Ng, Jairus Wan, Mandy Koh, Ho Qi Kang, Tom, Zelda Chua, Renee Chua
AIKARA delves into love as the force that transforms emptiness into meaning. The title weaves together Ai (love in many languages), kara (the void in Japanese), and rab (a reference to God in Hindi), evoking the profound act of filling the void with love. Inspired by the origins of existence, AIKARA reflects on the moment when something emerged from nothing—an explosion of energy and intention (a selfless act of Love). Wherein Love is the ultimate catalyst, capable of shaping and transforming even the most desolate things into something full of life. Though vast and multifaceted, love is a universal thread that resonates uniquely with each of us. It is the essence without which, ultimately, we are nothing. (1 Corinthians 13).
Snail Goat
Choreographed and performed by: Jack Lim Lin Jie
Performed by: Leo Yee
Performed by: Loy
Snail Goat is an elegant exploration of the flavour profiles of nostalgia and its lingering aftertastes. Inspired by small moments in life—like over-imaginative conversations that are cerebrally tickling and serve no greater purpose in the grand scheme but yet perhaps the very reason—and obscure movement vocabularies, which may or may not be pertaining or limited to the concept of ‘Threading’, to evoke melancholic feelings akin to millennials yearning for the 00’s. Snail Goat invites the audience to immerse themselves in this 6-minute journey, seeking resonance and reverberation from within.
Love and terror in the same hand
Choreographed and performed by: Anne Wang
Collaborator and dancer: Tan Qi, Eve
They’re here, they’re here
To reap what I sow.
The flesh remembers
what the heart forgets.
My hands grasp tightly
Love and terror,
hand in hand.
Not if, but when
I knew they’d come
to take you away;
Love is both
the garden
and the grave.
0:12
Choreographed by: Jarrold Lim Wei Han (Yoshi)
Performed by: YK, Chloe, Jacy, Risa, Charian, Jie Lynn, Joy
When regulation, order and economic stability take precedence over all else, what effects do these forces have on the way we practice our art? “Restrictions” or “frameworks”? How is our art-making shaped by them? 0:12 seeks to question what happens to a dancer (their bodies, their thoughts, expressions and more) under the pressures of architecture, time and surveillance.
