Are you a passionate youth with bold game ideas and the drive to create something amazing? Look no further as Up Your Game is the ultimate gateway to turning those dreams into playable reality!

As part of the lead-up to Re:Play Festival 2025, Up Your Game is an 8-week mentorship programme focused on one of the most exciting pillars of the gaming industry: game development.

This targeted initiative is designed to nurture the next generation of game developers by providing early exposure to industry knowledge, hands-on practical skills, and personalised mentorship from experienced professionals. Throughout the programme, participants will develop their very own playable prototype, guided by mentors who will help shape their concepts into compelling, market-ready experiences.

Submit your idea by 11 May 2025

Up Your Game Rules: 

1. ELIGIBILITY 

Up Your Game is open to any Singaporean or PR ages 16-35 years old (before 31st December 2025) residing in Singapore during the time of submission.

 

*SCAPE reserves the right to verify and confirm each Applicant’s compliance with eligibility requirements. The Applicant may be required to submit further information to assist in the verification of eligibility.

2. HOW TO ENTER 

To enter, the Applicant must submit a proposal introducing the game ideas of his/her choice (the “Submission”). 

 

Please download and complete the game proposal template here.

The proposal (not more than 2 pages) detailing the following: 

  • Name of Developer/Team Name
  • Team Members Name, if any
  • Title of Game
  • Type of Game (digital / tabletop)
  • Game Genre (e.g. puzzle platformer; idle simulator etc.)
  • Game Platform (e.g. PC; Mobile; Tabletop etc.)
  • Game Concept/Description
  • Game Reference
  • Visual Style (e.g. 3D; Pixel Art etc.)
  • Game Design and Scope
  • Target Audience
  • Team and Expertise, if applicable
  • Proposed Production Schedule
  • Portfolio Link

Submissions must comply with the requirements set out in the Terms and Conditions.

*SCAPE reserves the right to determine, in its sole discretion, which entries have satisfied the entry requirements and to disqualify any Submission it believes is not consistent with the spirit and theme of the competition.

3. SELECTION PROCESS 

There will be two (2) rounds of judging, preliminary and final;

 

During the preliminary round, all submissions that meet the requirements set out in the Rules and Terms and Conditions will be assessed by the mentors. Approximately 12 groups will be shortlisted.

 

In the Final Round, shortlisted mentees will be invited to participate in a pitch presentation to a panel of industry judges. This presentation will serve as an opportunity for teams to showcase their game prototypes, articulate their creative vision, and share their development process.

 

From this final pitch, a selected group of mentees will be invited to showcase their prototypes at the Re:Play Festival 2025 (1 – 3 August 2025) as part of the public-facing exhibition and celebration of youth developers. 

4. MENTORSHIP 

The shortlisted mentees will undergo an 8-week mentorship programme based on the following format:

Orientation Day

Shortlisted mentees are required to attend the orientation on 23 May 2025. Mentors will brief the mentees on how to best prepare their pitch for the final presentation.

 

Public Workshops

  • 7 June: From Vision to Concept to Prototype: Crafting a Winning Game Idea
  • 28 June: Prototyping Essentials: Bringing Your Game to Life
  • 19 July: Perfecting the Pitch: Presenting Your Game to the World

 

One-on-one consultation

In addition to the Orientation Day, shortlisted mentees will receive five weekly one-on-one consultations with their mentor for the development of their pitch deck for the final presentation.

 

*All mentees must meet a minimum of 80% of total attendance for the entire programme.

 

5. FINAL PRESENTATION 

Upon completing the mentorship programme, all mentees will have the exciting opportunity to showcase their progress and talents during the Close Door Pitch Session, which will take place on 26 July 2025. During this event, each mentee will be given 5 minutes to present their well-crafted pitch to our esteemed jury.

The final presentation will be a showcase of creativity and innovation, where no winners will be selected. Instead, the jury will provide on-the-spot feedback and evaluations, offering insightful perspectives on each game idea.

6. YOUTH GAME SHOWCASE

Qualified mentees will get a chance to showcase their final game prototype during Re:Play festival.
