GENERAL 

What is Up Your Game mentorship programme? 

Up Your Game is a mentorship programme designed to guide aspiring game developers through the creative journey of turning their game ideas into playable prototypes.  

When is the mentorship period? 

The Call For Applications for the programme will be conducted from 15 April 2025 to 11 May 2025. The shortlisted mentees will undergo an 8-week mentorship programme from May 2025 to July 2025 to develop a playable prototype, turning their game ideas into reality with the support of experienced mentors. Upon graduation, selected mentees will be showcasing their final prototype at Re:Play Festival 2025. 

Who can take part in Up Your Game? 

This programme is open to all Singaporeans, Permanent Residents (PRs) and Long-Term Pass Holders aged 16 to 35 (before 31 December 2025), residing in Singapore at the time of application. 

Is there a fee to participate?  

To ensure commitment and support the delivery of the programme, a nominal participation fee of $15 per group (per game proposal) will be charged only to teams selected for the mentorship programme. 

This small fee helps cover part of the programme costs while keeping the initiative accessible to all. As Up Your Game is a youth development initiative, students will be fully subsidised and not required to pay the fee. 

 

APPLICATION DETAILS 

How many applications can I submit? 

Each applicant is allowed to submit only one application. 

Can I team up with someone to join this programme? 

Yes, team submissions (up to 5 pax per application) are allowed. Please appoint one main contact person for communication purposes. 

What language can I use for my content? 

All content produced must be in the English language. 

How can I proceed to submit my application?

What types of game ideas are allowed? 

All genres are welcome! However, all submissions must be original, adhere to IMDA content guidelines, and be sensitive to social, racial, and religious matters. 

   

DEADLINE 

When is the deadline for applications? 

The application deadline is 2359hr (GMT+8) on 11 May 2025. 

  

SELECTION PROCESS 

What is the selection process like? 

There will be two (2) rounds of judging, preliminary and final; During the preliminary round, all submissions that meet the requirements set out in the Rules and Terms and Conditions will be assessed by the mentors. Approximately 12 groups of mentees will be shortlisted.  

In the Final Round, shortlisted mentees will be invited to participate in a pitch presentation to a panel of industry judges. This presentation will serve as an opportunity for teams to showcase their game prototypes, articulate their creative vision, and share their development process.  

From this final pitch, a selected group of mentees will be invited to showcase their prototypes at the Re:Play Festival 2025 (1 – 3 August 2025) as part of the public-facing exhibition and celebration of youth developers. 

How will my application be evaluated? 

The application will be evaluated based on its 

  • Originality & Creativity: Uniqueness of the game concept, storytelling, or artistic direction. 
  • Concept Clarity & Structure: Clearly articulates the gameplay mechanics, objectives, and user experience in a logical, coherent way. 
  • Relevance to Youth: Aligns with youth interests or the festival’s spirit of creativity, expression, and community. 
  • Feasibility & Development Potential: Realistically achievable within the mentorship timeline, with manageable scope for the team’s skill level. 
  • Team Passion & Intent: Reflects strong motivation, thoughtfulness, and commitment to bringing the idea to life. 

When will I know if my application has been shortlisted? 

Shortlisted applicants will be contacted via the email address as provided in the online application form. 

Who owns the rights to my game? 

All applicants retain ownership of their game concepts. However, *SCAPE and its partners will have the first right of refusal to further develop or distribute any shortlisted proposals. 

 

TRAINING AND MENTORSHIP 

What is the mentorship programme? 

Through the 8-week mentorship programme, participants will develop their very own playable prototype, guided by mentors who will help shape their concepts into compelling, market-ready experiences. At the end of the programme, the mentees would be required to submit one (1) playable prototype and prepare the final pitch session. 

When are the Workshops?

Will the shortlisted mentees be required to attend all the sessions? 

All mentees must meet a minimum of 80% of total attendance for the entire programme.
