FILM CRITICS LAB: A WRITING MENTORSHIP PROGRAMME

Fancy getting free tickets to watch films in the cinemas, being guided one-on-one by experienced mentors from the industry in developing and penning reviews, commentaries and interviews, and then being paid for your articles when they are published by local film websites?

This isn’t a fantasy but something that you can apply for!

So, go ahead and apply for our 4-month long mentorship programme to further develop your skills in writing for film! Cultivate your taste for a diverse range of films, programmes and festivals, and network with like-minded cinephiles and writers with the aim of promoting a deeper appreciation of cinema in Singapore!

Who are we looking for? 

Youths interested in watching and writing about films, networking with like-minded people and engaging with mentors and the SG film industry in promoting a deeper appreciation for film.

When is this happening? 

This programme is a 16 – week programme from July to November 2022.

  • 1 July, 6pm: Application window closes
  • 8 July: Successful applicants will be contacted
  • 16 July–5 November: Mentorship Programme
    – 16 July (afternoon): Onboarding + Workshop Session #1
    – 13 August (afternoon): Workshop Session #2
    – 5 November (afternoon): Final Session

Why you should join this programme? 

Through the mentorship programme, mentees will be able to:

  • Network with like-minded film enthusiasts and writers from the community
  • Network with experienced mentors from the film industry
  • Attend film screenings and festivals for exposure and networking
  • Produce quality writings for publishing
  • Have their writings published and promoted on local sites and social media with strong traffic and targeted readers

Note:

  • Limited slots available, register now! Please submit your application to us by 1 July 2022, 6pm.
  • Each mentee will be expected to submit 4 opinion pieces over the 4 months.
