In partnership with artists from various disciplines, it offers design, curation and production services for collaborations through images, texts, fashion, and exhibitions. Hayd Hayd’s works etch the latency of tropical fervour, mischievous gardening and an odious yearning for the unknown. They often manifest as images and artefacts of time out of joint, cryptic in their intentions and sly in their stature, conspiring against stable forms of culture, nature and knowledge.

mdrndesigns mdrndesigns seeks to inquire the boundaries of art(artistry, artisanal techniques), building(creating, making, innovating), crafting(skill, precision, dedication) and design(visuals, planning, systems). The inclusion of culture, context and collaboration in the inquiry manifests through the processes of products in perspectives. This leaves behind as well as propels forward manifestations of ideas, methodologies and outputs communicated through objects and things. mdrn runs THPG and PSR.

tofu house films tofu house films is a collaboration between Annie and Mina, originally created to produce experimental short film “holding your hand in public”. The collective has become a platform for other projects, like pop-ups and workshops.

This LABOUR BLOCK we want to create a chance for all of us to animate together – come by our booth and spend some time creating a couple frames to a collective animation. Imagine making a 3 minute film with like 50 other random people – the credits may be as long as the film.

^Note, this is not a workshop, but an activity open throughout the day. Not serious, no experience needed.

Otherwise, come by to purchase some prints, zines and trinkets~

kelleyreally Kelley’s art is a public journal, where she documents her recent ruminations based off her diary entries. In a process that is self-soothing and escapist, she pairs cute, simple characters, with uncomplicated storytelling to narrate her struggles. Last year, while sticking her fingers in every pot that vaguely interested her, she discovered a love for ceramics. Most of her creations have since been an attempt to translate her illustration style of quirky characters to their tactile 3-d forms. As an artist very much in progress, she is a hobby collector and is consciously trying to develop her style and broaden her practice.

Collaborating closely with an eclectic mix of artists, technologists and producers, we invent playful encounters for audiences to navigate unconventional futures. At LABOUR BLOCK, Mama Magnet will be sharing our latest curation, ‘Happy Hows!?’, a dynamic art book capture of Singapore’s evolving relationship with happiness, featuring works from 42 visual artists, collectives and designers, and responses from 1,800+ visitors to Happy House exhibitions at Singapore Art Week 2022. Through the lens of Singapore’s “new” 5 C’s, the project questions whether materialistic markers of happiness popularised in the 90s—Cash, Condo, Credit Card, Car, and Country Club—still hold true today.

In the spirit of exploring an expanding and alternative artist-audience ecosystem, Mama Magnet invites graphic designer Grace Hong and graffiti artist Simple Problem Beings to showcase their works. Approachability and considered co-existence is our collective form of liberation.

CREVICE Crevice — a youthful collective comprising Qowomo(@qowomo), Sam (@earsinfections), Tristen (@superrrduperrrrr), and Martina (@o6void). Operating in deliberate contrast, they embody a persistent and organic disruption in the established order by generating work in a prolific and rhizomatic manner. Medium-agnostic, their expansive body of work spanning tattooing, fashion, and artistic creation is primarily fueled by raw impulse and a celebration of excess inspired by the information overload of the present-day. Their fundamental ethos prioritizes liminality and autonomy, resulting in an expansive and unrestrained output that challenges both ideological and aesthetic norms. Rapturing the status quo, they carve out a space of their own. At the core of their philosophy lies CRE-VICE, symbolizing their belief in “Creation as Vice.”
