ARTIST LINEUP
DAY ONE
Rene Ann Wong is a 22-year-old pop/rock singer-songwriter based in Singapore who started performing at the age of 14. She has performed for external events like Festival For Good (2018), and school-related events in popular music venues like Timbre @ Substation. Rene has participated in a few music competitions, notably winning First Place for Noise Singapore’s The Great Singapore Replay Open Call (2017) and was subsequently feature on Channel News Asia’s First Look Asia segment on Singaporean musicians.
Melding groovy electronic beats, lush shimmering synths, and layered vocals that tangle and entwine, whirring digs deep in weaving deft personal narratives – exploring the anxieties and vulnerabilities lying just beneath the surface of the 20-something psyche. Comprising singer/producers Aqid Aiman and Michelle Jeon, the indie-synthpop band was formed in 2018 as a conscious effort to create music in uncomfortable new territories. The duo were recently chosen to be a part of the second edition of The Great Singapore Replay.
DAY TWO
Advaitha Venkat is a 17 year old singer/songwriter from Singapore. Her music style surrounds R&B Pop and Trapsoul, with music and lyrics that are authentic to her experiences. Her newest single “Others Do”, a self-produced and self-written track, will release on JUNE 12 2020. Currently, she is working on several new projects to be released in 2020.
With themes of resistance and inner struggle as inspiration, per[sona aspires to end continuous cycles of self-defeat and sabotage. Poignantly culminating in an eclectic brand of layered rock interspersed with electronic and ambient textures, per[sona have forged a unique sound, while inheriting qualities from influences like Nine Inch Nails and Radiohead.
Bad Dod is a garage rock band based in Singapore, it’s a bit ironic because most of us can’t afford a house with a garage.
Terrestrea is the ongoing collective artistic endeavor of five friends, for whom music has nurtured as much as it has corrupted. Formed in 2014 as a creative outlet of expression for themselves, Terrestrea continues to write new material and seek out shows and avenues to share their material with anyone out there who is willing to listen.
One of Singapore’s foremost post-hardcore bands, Caracal plays a visceral brand of rock that alternates between crushing riffs and gorgeous harmonic melodies. Chaos and catharsis. Deconstruction and renewal. Enter one of Singapore’s most beloved post-hardcore bands. Between their 2009 debut EP Phoenix and their 2015 full-length Welcome The Ironists, Caracal has changed line-ups countless times, ripping themselves up again and again, forever searching for an elusive, calming creative balance.
DAY THREE
Tucked in between dark beats, deft lyricism and immersive vocals lies Singaporean indie-electronic duo .gif. The pair @wweishh and @nnurudinn started out in 2013 as a passion project, but it has since blossomed into their full-time career.
Tim De Cotta is a vocalist, bassist, songwriter and producer who believes in keeping his art pure. Styled in R&B and Hip-Hop, Tim draws influences from artists such as Frank Ocean, John Legend, Common and Mos Def while styling his bass-playing after the likes of Derrick Hodge and Stuart Zender.
Bakers in Space is an indie post-psych rock band formed in 2013. The band extracts prime elements from indie-rock, psych rock, punk and reggae elements into their songs, aiming to catch the attention of crowds with a culmination of styles that is both chill yet full of energy. They draw influences from Tame Impala, Arctic Monkeys, Foals, Queens of the Stone Age, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin and David Bowie.
Rife with experimental rhythms, alternate guitar tunings and mixed styles, Approaching Aphelion’s music explores the confluence between math rock, progressive metal and jazz. Influences range from math rock bands like tricot, toe, Chon, and Covet, to more experimental groups like Town Portal and progressive metal acts such as Animals as Leaders.
Aspiring young talent Tengyboy has been trying to find a break through into the Singapore music scene for the past 2 years. Being under the influence of rappers like Eminem, Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole, Tengyboy is quick with writing and is a top drawer when it comes to lyricism and flow. Tengyboy has his own string of experiences on stage from performing at place like Shine Festival to Legacy Festival. Apart from performing on stage, he has established himself as a songwriter by writing with people like Narelle, Jon Chua JX, YAO, Estelle Fly and many more. He writes under Zendyll Records. Having constantly being on stage since he was only 9, Tengyboy is not afraid to express himself on stage and bring his own flavor to his performance no matter where they are or who they are for. Tengyboy is here for the long run and he feels like he was born to be on stage, and he intends to keep it that way.
