The *SCAPE Street Art Residency Programme is a pilot initiative dedicated to nurturing young and emerging street artists while celebrating the vibrant street art culture of Singapore. This four-month residency, scheduled from October 2024 to January 2025, will feature six talented youth street artists. The programme aspires to make a lasting impact on Singapore’s cultural landscape by emphasizing socially-driven themes, aiming to spark meaningful community conversations through socially-conscious murals.
Participants will engage in group discussions, participatory workshops, and interactive painting sessions designed to enhance their critical thinking and artistic abilities. Additionally, the residency will offer an opportunity for resident artists to collaborate with established artists in various *SCAPE and Somerset Belt programmes, providing hands-on experience in creating street art works. Participants will be mentored by the local Street Art Collective, RSCLS, throughout these activities.
The residency will culminate in a two-part showcase, both of which are part of Singapore Art Week 2025:
- A series of socially-driven murals at *SCAPE presented during the Creative Arts Festival 2025, and
- A public exhibition showcased during the Aliwal Arts Centre’s Aliwal Urban Art Festival 2025
Street Art Residency Showcase Launch Tour: 11 Jan, 3 – 4:30 PM
